Hi, my name is Atif Bhatti, and I am a 3rd year industrial designer studying at Sheridan College. As an industrial designer we created products that can be mass produced for people. These products can range from toys, furniture, appliances, and cars. Before any of these products can be made one must use the design process and follow each step to ensure all stages are completed. There are five stages in the design process that designers use, Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. All the stages help to complete necessary parts of a design. Empathize would be researching the idea and understanding what competition is out there. Defining/ refining your idea in a direction that is clear and concise. Ideation stage is creating sketches, development of ideas, digital renditions. Prototyping stage is creating soft models as well as 3d printed models based off 3d modelling. Finally testing is to see how the product would work and viewed in its environment. An important aspect of design to ensure that you are always thinking about the user and how they interact with the product. The last three steps of the design process can/may occur several times if a test fails or needs to be modified. I have used the design process for every product, design, and concept I have developed. The process keeps all work organized and completed efficiently.
